House-Hasson Hardware Company was founded in 1906 by Mr. C.S. Hasson and Mr. Sam House. House-Hasson started with 13 salesmen who came from the old C.M. McClung Company of Knoxville, Tennessee. House-Hasson Hardware was known as “Knoxville’s Exclusively Wholesale Hardware House.”

House-Hasson Hardware has grown through sales expansion and acquisition of other companies. In 1988, Paris Dunlap Hardware became our company’s first major acquisition, followed by Sheffield Hardware in 1997, Persinger Supply in 2007, Moore Handley in 2009 and Long Lewis is 2015.

Since 1980 House-Hasson has undergone four major expansions of its Knoxville, Tenn. headquarters warehouse, bringing the facility to 400,000 square feet.

Today House-Hasson serves dealers in Tennessee, 17 states, the Caribbean and beyond. Throughout our service area our 85 sales representatives develop personal relationships with our customers.

Orders are electronically received from our customers and salesmen using the Electronic Toolbox Catalog, point of sale systems and laptop computers to access the 55,000 SKU’s stocked in our warehouse. Customers also place orders using our website and House-Hasson’s customer service department.

Our customers include Trustworthy Hardware stores, independent hardware stores and lumber yards, Sentry Hardware stores, and Priced Right Everyday stores. House-Hasson is licensed to offer these store programs in its service areas.

House-Hasson has two major distribution centers: Knoxville and Prichard, West Virginia. The 150,000 square-foot West Virginia warehouse was completely modernized in 2008, tripling the number of items in stock and cutting handling times in half. Both Knoxville and Prichard are full-service warehouses.

Don Hasson, House-Hasson president and chief executive officer, is past president of the Southern Wholesale Hardware Association, the International Hardware Distributor Association, the National Hardware Association, and HGA. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Distribution America, the nation’s largest independent hardware buying association.

Low prices and rebates

House-Hasson’s ultra-modern facility and low overhead operation adds profit to your bottom line by offering you low prices in addition to cash rebates.

Special buying opportunities

House-Hasson has special buying opportunities for hardware and building material retailers. These buying opportunities give you the flexibility to order in the quantities you need. For example, when hurricanes hit the Gulf region House-Hasson sourced very large quantities of roofing and tarps.  When hardware stores in Georgia needed lumber but not truckload quantities, House-Hasson coordinated a regional split load program.

Monthly promotions

Drop shipments

Hundreds of drop ship vendors offer our dealers an easy and cost-effective way to buy higher volume lines. House-Hasson’s Pre-approved Dealers Drop Ship Program makes it easy for you to make one phone call and place your drop ship orders directly to each vendor’s customer service department.

Quantity buy program

The monthly quantity buy promotion offers a selection of similar high-demand items that can be mixed in any quantity to meet the Quantity Buy program order size. This gives you a cost-effective means of buying a mix of items at the lowest price while maintaining proper inventory levels.

Regular warehouse orders

Buy what you need to fill your shelves and use our warehouse as your stock room. Most of our 55,000 items are sold in “each” quantities, meaning individual items are sold rather than customers having to buy entire cases.

Retail Program Flexibility

Every consumer market is different, which is why House-Hasson offers many standard retail programs and various means to customize items by vendor, retail sensitivity, regional demand or other distinct factors to achieve a program that fits your market.

We have standard pricing systems based on the sensitivity codes above that produce certain profit margins. Using that as a benchmark use our tools and options to make the retail program your own.

We have two main programs that rely on basing our sensitivity codes of items. Benchmark and Benchmark Plus.

Benchmark retails are setup to position your store as a direct competitor to “Big Box” retailers.

Benchmark Plus retails are positioned to be within 5-plus percent of “Big Box” retailers giving you an extra cushion of profit if your store is within, say a 20 or 30 minute drive of this type competitor.

By tapping into our experience of over 11o years as a Hardware Wholesaler, House-Hasson is constantly reviewing and refining retail sensitivity codes for the items in these retail programs. Seasonality of an item as well as customer familiarity and immediate need of an item to finish a project or repair is considered when assigning a retail sensitivity code.

Dollar range markup is another popular program that can be customized based on the cost of an item rather than retail price sensitivity. It is another choice for a retailer who would rather not use a fixed margin across the board on all items in their store.

Another feature we have is retail rounding. Currently we offer 6 retail rounding options to choose from.

With all the choices we have for our retailers, there are nearly endless ways to choose a retail program that fits your market.
